Amtico Maintenance

Caring for your Amtico floor

Your new Amtico floor is an investment and with simple care and maintenance it will be a source of pride for many years to come.

An Amtico floor is extremely hard-wearing but even this tough surface can be scratched and marked by sharp grit or other objects.

Basic precautions will help keep your floor looking good.

Care

  • Vacuum or brush your floor regularly to remove dust and grit.
  • Protect against scratching from furniture feet by using casters, glides, rollers or felt pads. Use furniture cups under heavy otems or appliances to prevent indentation.
  • Do not use small or narrow casters or those with crowned tread, as they can damage your floor.
  • Use fibre mats at outside entrances; avoid rubber or latex backed mats as these may leave stains.
  • Do not allow cigarettes, matches or other very hot items to contact the foor.
  • Avoid contact woth rubber, asphalt, some paints and shoe polishes, which may stain your floor.
  • Be careful with spray polish and other silicone based products as they make your floor very slippery.

Routine Cleaning

Since October 1998, Amtico smooth surface floors have a Super Tough Finish that makes them even easier to clean and keep looking oike new. Amtico floors with textrured surfaces are also easily maintained with these two simple steps:

  • Frequently sweep your floor with a soft brush or vacuum to remove any loose grit or debris.
  • Prepare a solution of dilute Amtico Floor Cleaner (1:30) and read the instructions on the label carefully Apply to the floor with either a spray bottle and mop or a bucket and damp mop. Clean the floor area, keeping the mop damp, not wet. Rinse the mop frequently and if using a bucket, change the solution when it becomes dirty.

The amount of cleaning necessary will depend on your lifestyle and the colour of your floor. Most owners find that a weekly wipe-over is usually enough. We recommend micro-fibre mop heads; they are particularly effective at cleaning between bevelled tiles.

Any scuff marks that are nor removed during routine cleaning may be gently rubbed with a scouring pad of teh type used on non-stick cookware.

If you require a gloss finish or you are caring for an older Amtico floor, an application of Amtico Floor Dressing is needed.
